Today the Spirit of Bermuda sloop arrived home to Bermuda from its maiden voyage. It was quite the event down at Point Pleasant Park full of dignitaries, live bands and speeches. Tons of people showed up to watch her arrive and take part in all the festivities.It was a spectacular sight to see the sloop enter Hamilton Harbour with a flotilla of escorts ranging from tiny little boats that the kids learn to sail in to some pretty amazing yachts. The coolest part for me ,was the tug boat with the hose spray creating an archway for the Sloop. ( Very much like when the 200's were retired at WestJet and the fire department came out with the hose, only this is in the sea instead of on land).
All the ships in the harbour sounded their horns in welcome and I just kept thinking how lucky we are to be living here and being able to take part in stuff like this.
